“My Son With Down Syndrome Worked at a Store for 12 Years Until the Manager Accused Him of Stealing. My Son Cried and Begged, ‘Mom, Believe Me, I Didn’t Steal Anything!’ I Believed He Was Innocent, but When the Truth Came Out, Something Happened That I Never Could Have Expected…”

We stared at her in astonishment.

“This morning, I came to thank Daniel. My daughter had finally learned about my difficulties, returned, and helped me. I decided to give Daniel $500 as a gift.”

The woman became emotional.

“But he refused. He said he hadn’t helped me for money. We both started crying. Then I slipped the money into the inside pocket of my coat and forgot about it. When I couldn’t find it in my handbag, I panicked, called the store, and reported it missing.”

Elizabeth looked directly at the manager.

“When I found the money, I came back immediately. I never imagined that because of my mistake, you would accuse Daniel of being a thief.”

Robert was speechless.

But the woman wasn’t finished.

“Do you think he simply gave me food? No! After my husband died, I became so lonely that sometimes I went days without speaking to anyone. But Daniel came every week, sat beside me, and listened to me.”
