He Arrived at His Pregnant Wife’s Funeral With His Mistress — Then Her Lawyer Opened the Will and Revealed the Truth 018

Rachel looked at him.

“What is she talking about?”

Jason didn’t answer.

Mr.

Hayes continued reading.

“I know about Rachel.”

A gasp traveled through the church.

Rachel’s face drained of color.

Jason stood again.

“This is inappropriate.”

Mr.

Hayes looked up.

“Lily anticipated that response.”

Then he returned to the document.

“She told me that if she died before Noah was born, I was to make sure the truth was known.”

My entire body went cold.

Noah.

Her unborn son.

My sister had known something was wrong.

Mr.

Hayes turned a page.

“She did not believe her fall was an accident.”

The church erupted in whispers.

Jason’s face became almost colorless.

My mother stood.

“What?”

Mr.

Hayes raised his voice slightly.

“Lily wrote that she had been frightened for several weeks before her death.”

I looked at Jason.

He wouldn’t look at me.

Mr.

Hayes continued.

“She told me that Jason had been lying to her about money, about Rachel, and about several business transactions involving the company he claimed belonged entirely to him.”
