Chapter 1: The night before my wedding, I overheard my bridesmaids through the hotel wall: h6368

We returned to the reception after ten minutes. The slideshow had been disconnected, the technician had preserved the system logs, and Margaret had asked the venue manager to secure the office.

Vanessa was nowhere to be seen.

Kendra found me near the garden doors.

“I know who helped her,” she whispered.

I turned toward her.

“Tell me.”

She took a breath.

“Your wedding coordinator’s former assistant. The woman who worked with Margaret last year.”

I frowned.

“Emily?”

Kendra nodded.

Emily had helped with some of the early wedding arrangements before leaving the company to work independently. She had access to several planning documents, including vendor information and some of the shared email records.

But that didn’t explain how she could have obtained private conversations between Ethan and me.

“Why would Emily do this?”

“Vanessa told me Emily hated you. She said Emily believed you had caused her to lose a major contract.”
