Chapter 1: The night before my wedding, I overheard my bridesmaids through the hotel wall: h6368

The screenshots had been edited.

Not dramatically. Not enough to be obvious at a glance.

But the timestamps were missing, and two lines of conversation had been removed. In one image, the crop made it appear that I had invited Daniel to meet me privately.

I had never sent that invitation.

“Can you send these to me?” I asked.

Kendra did.

“I’ll tell Margaret what happened,” she said. “And I’ll tell the other bridesmaids I was wrong.”

I studied her face.

“Why are you telling me now?”

She looked down.

“Because Vanessa just asked me to put something in your bridal suite.”

My blood ran cold.

“What?”

“A letter. She said it was from Ethan and that you needed to read it before the ceremony.”

“Did you bring it?”

Kendra shook her head.

“No. I told her I wouldn’t do it.”

For the first time that morning, I saw genuine fear in her expression.
