“She said if I didn’t help her, she’d show everyone the screenshots and tell them I had been part of the plan from the beginning.”
I sat down slowly.
Vanessa was no longer merely trying to win Ethan.
She was trying to manufacture evidence, isolate me from the people around me, and ensure that if I exposed her, she could accuse me of doing the same things she had done.
I took Kendra’s hand.
“You can still make the right choice.”
She began to cry.
“I am so sorry.”
“I believe you. But you need to tell the truth about everything you heard.”
She nodded.
After Kendra left, I went into the bridal suite and found Ethan waiting beside the window.
He had heard enough of the conversation to understand what was happening.
“She fabricated evidence that you were cheating,” he said.
“She fabricated evidence that we were both unhappy. She needed each of us to believe a different lie.”
