Henry was still standing in the middle of the aisle.
Holding his mop. Not using it.
Zoe let go of my hand.
She walked over to him.
She stopped in front of him. Carefully. Around the glass.
She held out the box of Lucky Charms.
“Hi,” she said. “I’m Zoe.”
Henry looked down at her.
He wiped his glasses on his polo shirt. He put them back on.
“Hi,” he said. “I’m Henry.”
“I know,” Zoe said. “It’s on your shirt.”
Henry looked down at his name tag.
He almost smiled.
“I saw her do it,” Zoe said. “The lady. I saw her push the cart. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Henry looked at her for a long time.
“I thought I did,” he said quietly. “I thought I bumped it.”
“You didn’t,” Zoe said. “You were on the ladder. You were putting the juice up really nice. You were turning all the labels so they faced out.”
