Within minutes, his leg was back against mine.
Nearly four hours after takeoff, Josh finally unbuckled his seat belt.
“Bathroom.”
Henry stood to let him pass.
I watched him disappear down the aisle.
Then I straightened my leg.
“My goodness.”
Henry looked at me.
“That bad?”
I stretched carefully.
“You have no idea.”
For the first time in hours, nothing was pressing into me.
I could actually move.
Then Josh’s earlier words returned to me.
If you’re not using the space, what’s the problem?
Fine.
Maybe Josh could have all the space he wanted.
He simply wasn’t getting mine anymore.
I saw the flight attendant and raised my hand.
“Could I ask you something?”
“Of course.”
“Is there any chance I could change seats?”
She looked concerned.
“Is something wrong?”
I finally said it.
“The man beside me keeps pushing into my seat.”
She glanced toward the empty middle seat.
