“My Son With Down Syndrome Worked at a Store for 12 Years Until the Manager Accused Him of Stealing. My Son Cried and Begged, ‘Mom, Believe Me, I Didn’t Steal Anything!’ I Believed He Was Innocent, but When the Truth Came Out, Something Happened That I Never Could Have Expected…”

My heart tightened.

“Daniel, why were you taking bags out of the storage room?”

He closed his eyes.

“I promised I wouldn’t tell anyone, Mom.”

For the first time in my life, I didn’t know what to think.

At that moment, the manager turned on the security camera footage.

An 82-year-old woman appeared on the screen. She was standing near the fruit section when Daniel approached her.

The woman whispered something into my son’s ear.

Daniel suddenly began crying. Then he picked up her handbag and carried it toward the storage room.

“See?” the manager shouted. “That’s when the $500 disappeared from her purse!”

I looked at my son.

“Daniel, please tell me the truth.”

He lowered his head and whispered.

“Mom, if I tell you, Grandma Elizabeth will be upset…”

At that moment, the manager said coldly:

“Call the police. I’m not waiting any longer.”
