For twelve years, he had worked at a grocery store. Every morning, he put on his red shirt, tied his green apron around his waist, and proudly went to work.
He was never late, and he loved his job so much that he even asked on his days off whether the store needed any help.
But that Tuesday, everything fell apart.
When I arrived at the store, about fifteen people were gathered near the checkout counter.
My son stood in the middle of them. His face was red, and his hands were trembling uncontrollably.
The manager, Robert, was shouting angrily.
“We trusted you for twelve years, and you stole $500 from a poor elderly woman!”
Daniel saw me and ran into my arms.
“Mom, I didn’t take her money. Please believe me!”
I tried to calm him down, but the manager placed several photographs on the counter.
“Look at these! For the past three months, your son has been taking bags full of groceries out of the storage room almost every day. We have no idea where they’ve been going.”
