I still remember the day I read her test results at the hospital and collapsed onto the floor.
At that moment, I thought I was going to lose my mother.
But in reality, that was the day we were given a chance to save not only her health, but also my parents’ marriage from a dangerous silence.
Today, my mother is 78.
My father is 82.
And every morning, when he makes her coffee, he no longer places medication beside her cup.
Instead, he asks:
“Linda, what would you like to do today?”
And every time, my mother smiles and answers:
“First of all, I’d like to decide for myself.”
And they both laugh.
Because sometimes, loving someone isn’t enough to protect a family.
You also have to listen, trust, and know when to ask for help. ❤️
