As news of Sahara’s death spread, her mother, Real Estate Agent Gretchen, remembered her daughter as a loving person whose passions extended far beyond the glamorous world of modeling.
“Sahara was an incredibly passionate and kind young woman who loved her family, fashion, her daughter Snow, and surfing,” Gretchen told the Daily Mail. The grieving mother also expressed gratitude for the messages of love and support arriving from Sahara’s friends, fans, and the communities she had been part of around the world.
“We’re feeling the love that is pouring in from her cherished friends, fans and the many communities that she was part of around the world,” she said. Her words offered a touching reminder of the woman behind the public persona: a daughter, a friend, a designer, and, most recently, a devoted mother.
Sahara’s reported overdose also comes against the backdrop of an ongoing opioid crisis in the United States. According to CNN’s September 2026 reporting, fentanyl and other synthetic opioids are involved in more than half of all drug overdose deaths nationwide.
