My sister looked directly into the camera.
“Hi, Em.”
I covered my mouth.
Her voice trembled.
“If you’re watching this, something happened to me.”
My mother began sobbing.
Lily continued.
“I hope I’m wrong.”
She looked down.
One hand rested protectively over her belly.
“I hope I’m just scared for no reason.”
She took a breath.
“But if I’m not here anymore, please don’t let Jason tell you this was an accident.”
Jason moved toward the tablet.
Mr.
Hayes blocked him.
“Don’t touch it.”
Lily’s voice continued.
“He has been lying to me.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
“I found messages between him and Rachel.”
Rachel lowered her head.
“I found bank transfers.”
Jason’s face was rigid.
“And I found out he has been trying to make it look like our company is his.”
Lily paused.
Then she looked directly into the camera.
“I don’t know what he is capable of.”
