This was the first time she openly refused one.
Thomas said softly, “Think about Javier.”
“I am.”
He looked toward Javier.
Then smiled.
“You think I care about him?”
Carmen’s eyes hardened.
“No.”
Javier flinched.
Thomas continued.
“He was useful when he could marry Sofia.”
Sofia looked disgusted.
Javier looked destroyed.
His entire life had been constructed around earning approval from people who saw him as a tool.
Thomas pointed toward me.
“Caroline. Give me the archive and everyone leaves.”
“No.”
He laughed.
“You don’t even understand what you’re holding.”
“I understand enough.”
“You’re holding accounts worth hundreds of millions.”
“I don’t care.”
That answer genuinely confused him.
People like Thomas always believed everyone had a price.
“What do you want?”
“My daughter safe.”
“Done.”
“My family safe.”
“Done.”
“Daniel alive.”
His expression changed.
Alexander saw it.
“Daniel is alive.”
Thomas said nothing.
Sofia whispered, “Where?”
