Chapter 1: The night before my wedding, I overheard my bridesmaids through the hotel wall: h6368

“Did she send you messages afterward?”

“Yes. A few. I stopped responding when they became personal.”

“Do you still have them?”

“Every one.”

“Don’t delete anything.”

“I won’t.”

Then he asked, “Olivia, are we still getting married?”

I looked at the gown hanging inside the wardrobe.

“Yes,” I whispered. “But tomorrow is going to be different.”

“Whatever you need.”

I ended the call with a strange sense of relief. The situation was ugly, but at least Ethan had finally told me the truth.

At 5:02 a.m., Margaret sent me the updated ceremony plan. At 5:17, Ryan confirmed that he had the rings. At 5:31, Chloe discovered that Vanessa had called her six times while we were moving between suites.

The final voicemail was only twelve seconds long.

“Chloe, where is Olivia? She isn’t answering her phone, and I need to know whether she’s all right. Call me immediately.”

Vanessa sounded concerned.

Almost convincing.
