Pamela opened her mouth.
Nothing came out.
“You called him this boy,” Zoe said. “Like four times. This boy needs to be fired. This boy can’t stock a shelf.”
She pointed at Henry.
“His name is Henry,” Zoe said. “It’s on his shirt.”
I put my hand on my daughter’s shoulder.
I didn’t say anything.
I didn’t need to.
Pamela Strand waited in the manager’s office.
The police officer came eleven minutes later. Officer Dana Kowalczyk. Duluth PD. She watched the security footage. She watched the first eleven seconds of the livestream.
She watched them twice.
Then she walked into the manager’s office and closed the door.
Pamela was charged with criminal damage to property. And disorderly conduct. Misdemeanors.
