“On it.”
“And screenshot her livestream,” Terrence said. “The first eleven seconds. The hand. The diamond ring. Her face.”
“Already did,” Jade said.
Terrence picked up the phone on the wall.
He dialed three numbers.
He waited.
“Yes,” he said. “This is Terrence Boyd. Store manager at Lakeview Foods on Woodland Avenue. I need an officer. A customer just intentionally destroyed merchandise and falsely accused an employee. On video. She’s still in the store.”
Then he looked at me.
“Mrs.—”
“Lindstrom,” I said. “Carrie.”
“Carrie,” he said. “Did she ask you to tell me something?”
I nodded.
“She said, Make sure he knows exactly what this employee did,” I said. “Every detail.”
Terrence almost smiled.
It wasn’t a happy smile.
“Then let’s make sure,” he said.
We walked back to aisle seven.
Terrence first. Then me. Then Zoe. Then Jade, holding a stack of printouts.
The crowd was bigger now.
