“I just want it documented.”
She nodded.
I filled in the flight number.
Seat information.
What Josh had said.
How many times I had asked him to move.
How the attendant helped me change seats.
Then I read it once.
And submitted it.
No softening.
No excuses.
No changing words to make Josh look better.
Just what happened.
For once, I didn’t rewrite the truth to make another person comfortable.
Then I called Marianne.
“I’m coming out now.”
“Rose is awake.”
My heart lifted immediately.
“She’s looking around for you.”
“Tell her Grandma is almost there.”
When I reached arrivals, Marianne was waiting with Rose in a carrier.
She hugged me hard.
Then leaned back.
“Mom, you look exhausted.”
“I had an interesting seatmate.”
“What happened?”
“A man decided his ticket apparently included half my seat.”
Her eyes widened.
“What?”
“I’ll tell you later.”
I smiled.
