I sat down.
Stretched my leg.
Nothing touched me.
Nothing pressed against me.
It felt luxurious.
“Would you like some more water?”
“I’d appreciate that.”
She had barely stepped away when Josh returned.
He reached his row.
Stopped.
Looked at the empty window seat.
Then turned.
His eyes found me.
“What the hell did you do?!”
Half the cabin seemed to look up at once.
My face went hot.
But I kept my voice steady.
“I moved.”
“You went behind my back?”
“I didn’t need to discuss my seat with you.”
The flight attendant returned immediately.
“Sir, please lower your voice.”
Josh pointed toward me.
“Did she complain about me?”
“Sir—”
“She never said anything was wrong!”
I looked at him.
“I asked you to move your leg several times.”
“You’re exaggerating.”
Then he turned toward the attendant.
“You asked her earlier, remember? She told you everything was fine.”
