Two Little Girls Stopped to Help a Stranger in the Park—and Changed the Way a Billionaire Saw the World

I was simply enjoying a conversation with two curious children.

Before we left, I handed Denise the card. It contained a short note of thanks and information about a community foundation representative who could explain available family programs if she ever wanted to learn more.

There were no conditions and no expectations. Denise could use the information or ignore it.

She read the note carefully.

“Thank you for not assuming we needed something from you,” she said.

“I wouldn’t want anyone making assumptions about my own family.”

She nodded.

“That’s a good place to start.”

As I stood to leave, Lily hurried over and briefly hugged my leg.

“Don’t get sick again,” she said.

“I’ll do my best to take better care of myself.”

Emma offered me a small silver star sticker from her pocket.

“For getting better.”

I accepted it with a smile.

“Thank you. I’ll keep it somewhere safe.”
