—Doctor Fonseca…
Fonseca froze.
I knew that voice.
It was the voice of the nun who was on the stretcher.
—Who is it?
The response came barely audible.
—Don’t look under the second stretcher.
Fonseca looked up.
Camilo was next to the first one.
There was another stretcher at the back of the room.
Empty.
Or so they had thought.
Fonseca made a gesture so that Camilo would not move
—Who are you?
The voice responded:
—I am the woman you are about to kill.
The line was cut.
For several seconds, none of them spoke.
Then Camilo slowly pointed towards the ground.
—Doctor…
Something was dripping under the second stretcher.
A drop.
Then another.
Red.
Fonseca approached.
He crouched down.
Then another.
Red.
Fonseca approached.
He crouched down.
And he saw a hand.
A small, pale hand extending from under the stretcher.
Camilo shouted.
Fonseca pulled the stretcher back.
And then they both saw the body hidden beneath.
It was another nun.
But she was still breathing.
His eyes were open.
And before fainting, he grabbed Fonseca’s robe with unexpected force.
—Don’t let them return to the convent…
—Who?
The woman began to cry.
—Everyone is dead.
Fonseca felt a chill.
—Who is dead?
The nun looked directly at him.
—The sisters.
He paused.
—And those who still walk… are no longer them.
Then he lost consciousness.
Fonseca immediately called the emergency services.
But before they could finish the call, they heard footsteps in the hallway.
Many steps.
Slow.
Coordinated.
Camilo looked towards the door.
—Doctor…
The footsteps stopped.
Three knocks echoed to the other side.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
Fonseca looked at the clock.
It had been exactly two hours since they discovered the message.
And then someone spoke from the other side of the door.
—Doctor Fonseca…
It was a male voice.
—We come for our sisters.
Fonseca looked at Camilo.
Then he looked at the three bodies.
And finally he turned his eyes towards the door.
The voice continued:
—Open.
Fonseca did not respond.
Then he heard something much worse.
A second voice.
Then a third.
