She Thought Her Husband Had Died In Prison. But He Had Been Living Next Door For 10 Years

“Where are you going now?” Shinaya asked.

Dex shrugged.

“I don’t know.

Maybe I’ll leave town, start over somewhere else”.

Shinaya stared at him for a long time, at the man she had mourned, prayed for, and still carried in her heart despite the years.

“Are you hungry?” she asked unexpectedly.

Dex looked at her in surprise.

“What?” “I asked if you’re hungry,” she repeated.

“I have coffee and croissants at my place.

We could talk”.

A spark of hope flashed in his eyes, so fragile that Shinaya was almost frightened by its power.

“I’d like that,” he replied quietly.

They walked together through the waking streets of the city, a woman and her dead husband risen from the dead.

Between them lay a chasm of 10 years of lies and suffering.

But in the morning light, everything seemed possible, even a new beginning.
