My nine-year-old daughter was about to step off her school bus when the silver-haired driver suddenly stood up and called out, “Please stay back! I need to keep her safe!”

My fingers moved so rapidly that several words were misspelled.

The Route 24 driver refused to allow my nine-year-old daughter to leave at her assigned bus stop.

He shouted toward me, closed the doors, and departed while my daughter was visibly upset.

I believe this incident requires an immediate review of his responsibility for transporting children.

I selected the option requesting prompt administrative review.

Then I tapped Submit.

A confirmation number appeared onscreen.

I experienced a brief, uneasy sense of relief.

At least I had taken action.

Several minutes afterward, a deputy walked into the office.

He introduced himself as Deputy Reed.

He appeared to be in his early forties, speaking calmly while holding a small notebook.

“Mrs. Carter? Could I ask you several questions?”

“I want that driver arrested.”

“We’re investigating what occurred.”

“He drove away with my daughter.”

“Ellie is safe now, isn’t she?”

“That doesn’t excuse what happened.”
