Why had he been so frightened when I refused to drink?
The next morning, after George left the house, I went back into the kitchen.
My glass was still sitting on the table.
I carefully poured the remaining liquid into a small clean container.
And for the first time in forty years, I decided to find out exactly what I had
been drinking.
At the laboratory, they looked at me strangely.
I simply told them that I wanted the liquid analyzed.
Two days later, I received a phone call.
“Mrs. Miller, could you come in personally?”
I didn’t like the tone of the doctor’s voice.
When I arrived, Dr. Harris invited me into his office.
There were several papers on his desk.
For a moment, he simply stared at me.
Then he stood up.
And locked the door.
My heart began pounding.
“Does your husband know you brought this sample to us?”
“No.”
He sat down again.
“There is something in this liquid besides vodka.” The continuation read in the comments 👇👇‼️‼️
My hands went cold. At that moment, every terrible possibility rushed through my mind.
Forty years.
Every single evening.
The same glass.
What if he had been giving me something?
my occasional headaches, weakness, and sleepiness over the years had not been normal at all?
I didn’t even want to finish the thought.
“What is in it?” I whispered.
The doctor still didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, he asked,
“Mrs. Miller, did you ever have any chronic medical condition when you were younger?”
I stared at him.
“No… I don’t think so.”
“Did you ever lose consciousness?”
I froze.
Suddenly, I remembered something.
During the first year of our marriage, I had fainted twice.
Once, I had even been taken to the hospital.
But it had happened so long ago that I barely remembered it anymore.
“Yes,” I said quietly.
used for certain seizure-related or heart-rhythm conditions. The amount is very small.”
I stared at him.
“So George has been… giving me medicine?”
Dr. Harris nodded.
“That appears to be the case. But that does not mean giving someone medication without properly discussing it with them is acceptable. You need to speak with him and confirm the history with your doctor.”
