My Daughter Refused To Go Home—Then I Saw The Contract On My Table

That was harder to dismiss.

The next day, Gregory finally sent part of the purchase agreement.

Not the whole thing.

Only several photographed pages.

My name was typed correctly.

The apartment description was correct.

A proposed purchase price appeared on the first page.

It was low enough that even I recognized something was wrong.

The buyer’s information was partly visible, but Gregory had photographed the pages at angles that cut off sections near the edges.

I enlarged one image.

There was a deadline written beside the signature block.

Three days away.

Suddenly his urgency made more sense.

Christopher leaned over the table.

“He wasn’t trying to get you to discuss an idea,” he said. “He was trying to get you home before a deadline.”

Gregory sent another message before I responded.

If you sign now, this whole problem goes away.

I almost laughed.

Not because anything was funny.
