That was answer enough.
Daniel leaned back.
“Wow.”
“Daniel, please.”
“How long?”
She started crying.
“Please don’t do this like this.”
Daniel laughed.
“How would you prefer I find out?”
“It wasn’t supposed to happen.”
“How long?”
Mark spoke.
“Son, this is partly my fault.”
Daniel turned toward him.
“Do not call me son right now.”
Mark went silent.
Jenna wiped her face.
“Since June.”
My stomach turned.
The wedding had been in July.
Daniel stared at her.
“You married me while you were already sleeping with him.”
“It wasn’t like that.”
I spoke for the first time.
“Be very careful with that sentence.”
She looked at me.
I had known Jenna four years.
I went wedding-dress shopping with her.
Helped with the bridal shower.
She called me Mom during her wedding speech.
Now she couldn’t look at me.
“It started when Daniel and I were having problems.”
