The most romantic part is that for 17 years, almost no one knew that this heart existed ❤️
Winston Howes lost Janet when she was 50, after 33 years of marriage. Looking for a way to remember her, the farmer planted thousands of young oak trees in a six-acre meadow in Gloucestershire, England, but left a huge empty space shaped like a heart in the middle of the field.
He even carefully oriented the design: the tip of the heart points toward Wotton Hill, where Janet had grown up. In the center, he planted daffodils that bloom every spring and put a bench where he still went to sit, think, and feel close to her.
From the ground, it was practically impossible to tell what he had created, so for years it remained a family secret. Until hot-air balloon pilot Andy Collett happened to pass over the field and couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
