full story : My daughter stumbled onto my doorstep at three in the morning, still wearing her torn wedding dress, after her husband’s mother beat her for refusing to hand over her condo.

The final piece is not evidence. It is a confession.

Daniel

The room went silent.

Marcus picked up the brass key.

“Union Station.”

Alexander checked the window.

“We go now.”

“No.”

Everyone looked at Sofia.

She stood slowly.

“If Carmen has been hunting this for twenty years, she knows we’ll follow Daniel’s trail.”

Alexander nodded reluctantly.

“She may.”

“Then we stop walking where she wants us to.”

Marcus looked impressed.

“What do you suggest?”

Sofia stared at the photograph of Carmen.

“We make her believe we already opened locker 317.”

Alexander’s eyes narrowed.

“And then?”

“We watch what she does.”

For the first time since this nightmare began, my daughter was no longer simply surviving.

She was thinking like her father.

Marcus smiled.

“That might work.”

Alexander did not smile.

“That terrifies me.”
