I looked toward Noah and Lily.
Noah was showing his sister something on the tablet. Lily giggled softly, unaware that her entire family tree had just been shaken by one sentence in a doctor’s office.
“Dawson,” I said. “How did you know they were at the clinic?”
Another pause.
“Ashley contacted my office three days ago.”
My fingers went cold.
“What?”
“She didn’t speak to me directly at first. She spoke to my assistant. She said she was afraid Ryan was lying to both of
you.”
I turned my back fully to the children.
“That doesn’t make sense. She was at the penthouse with him. She knew he was married.”
“She knew he was separated because that’s what he told her,” Dawson said. “I’m not defending her choices. I’m telling you what she claims. She says Ryan told her the divorce had been finalized over a year ago, that you were refusing to move out of a property he owned, and that the children were already part of a custody arrangement.”
