Every time my brother-in-law drove my 7-year-old daughter home from school, she arrived unc:ons:cious. Hours later, she would wake up with unexplained bru:is:es and pa:in she couldn’t remember. My husband dismissed it, saying, “She’s just tired and clumsy,” and refused to take her to a doctor. After the 4th time, I stopped believing the excuses and hid a tiny voice recorder inside her backpack. That night, I heard a phone call that made my blood run cold. Those blackouts had never been acc!dents.

Vanessa was an elegant woman in her late forties, wearing a white medical coat over an expensive designer dress. Despite her polished appearance, her expression revealed little patience as she approached the two men.

“Julian, my clients are waiting. Where is the child? The experimental medication has already been prepared.”

Julian immediately became less confrontational, explaining that an unexpected situation had delayed Lily’s arrival. He promised to bring her later, but Vanessa refused to accept his explanation.

“A delay isn’t acceptable. Give me the briefcase, Julian. You won’t receive the remaining payment until the child is here.”

Julian clutched the case tightly, his desperation becoming increasingly obvious. He begged Vanessa for an advance, explaining that his gambling creditors had given him a deadline and that he couldn’t leave without the money.

Before Vanessa could respond, Agent Thorne issued the order to begin the raid. Armored federal vehicles entered the property, followed by tactical teams that quickly surrounded the courtyard and blocked the exits.
