Chapter 1: The night before my wedding, I overheard my bridesmaids through the hotel wall: h6368

Then I remembered the voice through the hotel wall.

She never realizes anything until it’s already too late.

Vanessa had counted on my fear of public embarrassment. She had expected me to panic, to cry, and to give her control of the story.

I refused to do it.

I took Ethan’s hand.

“Daniel was a coworker,” I said clearly. “We exchanged messages about a professional course and work assignments. Some of these messages are genuine. Others have been altered or combined to create a false impression. I will provide the original conversations to anyone who needs to verify that.”

A few guests nodded. Others looked uncertain.

I couldn’t blame them.

A lie displayed on a large screen had a terrible power. It became a performance, and people often mistook the confidence of the performance for proof.

Ethan stepped forward.

“I have seen the original messages,” he said. “Olivia has not been unfaithful to me. Whoever prepared this material has deliberately manipulated private conversations.”
