Chapter 1: The night before my wedding, I overheard my bridesmaids through the hotel wall: h6368

“Did you see the original conversations?”

“No. She cropped them. I asked her to stop sending them, and eventually she did.”

A cold realization settled over me.

Vanessa hadn’t merely invented doubts. She had constructed a parallel version of our relationship and used fragments of conversations to make it believable.

“Can you send me every message she ever sent you?”

“Already done.”

My phone vibrated.

Ethan had forwarded the entire conversation history, including the messages from October 3.

I saved the files in two places and sent a copy to Ryan.

Then I looked at the clock.

“We have four hours before the ceremony.”

Ethan reached for my hand.

“Tell me what you want me to do.”

“Nothing dramatic. Don’t accuse her. Don’t give her an opportunity to claim you’re attacking her because she rejected you.”

“She won’t get near you.”

“That’s not enough. I need to know whether she’s planning something else.”
