Chapter 1: The night before my wedding, I overheard my bridesmaids through the hotel wall: h6368

I read it twice.

Then I folded it carefully and slipped it into my purse.

For the first time since midnight, I felt ready to walk toward the day waiting for me.

But I wasn’t ready to forgive anyone.

Not yet.

At 8:03, Margaret called with an update.

“Olivia, the rings are secure, the dress is secure, and the revised schedule is in place. There’s one more thing you should know.”

“What is it?”

“The hotel manager reviewed the room-access records after your request. Vanessa entered your original suite yesterday afternoon while you were at the rehearsal dinner.”

My stomach tightened.

“For how long?”

“Eleven minutes.”

“Did she say why?”

“She told the front desk she was checking on your dress.”

I looked toward the empty wardrobe in the second suite.

“Was anyone with her?”

“No.”

Margaret paused.

“Olivia, when the manager checked the room afterward, he found a small envelope tucked beneath the dresser. It has your name on it.”
