“Precisely,” Marcus agreed. “Unless someone was monitoring my daughter’s movements from within the company.”
He looked down at Zara, whose brown eyes remained focused and remarkably clear despite the commotion.
“Dad, who has access to my profile?” Zara asked.
Her tone was steady. She remembered her father’s rule about maintaining poise when an unknown variable entered a familiar system.
“Only three people in the London office hold family override rights,” Marcus answered. “My deputy director, the regional security head, and the vice president of corporate acquisitions, Julian Croft.”
At the mention of Croft, Richard Bennett’s eyes shifted.
He was sitting in 2B with his hands pressed together. The arrogance that had once fueled his refusal had completely evaporated.
Marcus noticed the subtle reaction immediately.
He stepped past the bulkhead and stood beside Row 2.
“Mr. Bennett, you recognized that name. Tell us why you chose this exact flight.”
