One of my triplet sons suddenly passed away shortly after birth

From inside the house, Riley shouted,

“Rowan! Rex says vanilla cake counts as a personality flaw!”

Rowan laughed softly.

I watched him get up and walk toward his brothers.

Peggy had taken eighteen years from us.

No lawyer, court, apology, or document could return that time.

But that night, my son was no longer a secret.

He was no longer a lie.

He was no longer the empty place at our table.

He was home.
